THE PREDICTION

World number 19 Felix Auger-Aliassime could be one to watch this week in Paris after finally playing his way back into form at the Swiss Indoors, where he successfully defended a title for the first time. Victories over Holger Rune and Hubert Hurkacz in the final are excellent results indoors but the Canadian’s most impressive win was coming back from match point down to oust Alexander Shevchenko in the quarter-finals – a scenario the out-of-sorts youngster had been losing all season long. Auger-Aliassime reached the semi-finals here last season before defeat to eventual champion Rune and it should take a player of that quality to oust the Canadian if he can roll through this tricky opener against Jan-Lennard Struff. World number 27 Struff has some similar qualities to his hard-hitting, powerful if predictable opponent but he has claimed just two wins on hardcourts since returning from injury in late September. The German is well capable of pouncing on a poor start from Auger-Aliassime but after a season from hell it is likelier that the Canadian is too hungry to drop his five-match winning streak. Back Auger-Aliassime to win outright.

BETTING TIP: Felix Auger-Aliassime to win.
