THE PREDICTION
This should be another highly entertaining match between two of the more eye-catching games in tennis in world number two Carlos Alcaraz and number 33 Dan Evans. A third meeting this season is likely to go the same way as all three of their previous encounters, with Alcaraz winning all three, but their most recent clash at the US Open saw Evans claim his first set from the Spaniard whilst never really looking capable of the upset. 20-year-old Alcaraz avoided an early scare with a solid straight-sets victory over Gregoire Barrere whilst Evans was in control of his opener against Mikhail Kukushkin before the 35-year-old was forced to retire in the second set on Sunday. Evans has been in some excellent form of late, almost single-handedly dragging Great Britain into the Davis Cup finals with some epic performances last month, but there is a ceiling there that Alcaraz lives above. Evans took a set from eventual champion Jannik Sinner at the China Open last week to suggest that backing Alcaraz to win outright is the suitably cautious move.
