The 26-year-old won the Delray Beach Open last month for a third career title, with his progression since the start of last season nothing short of outstanding. Each of the US collegiate system product’s three titles have come on North American hardcourts.

24-year-old Pedro Martinez is up to a career-high ATP world ranking of 49th after winning his first title at the Chile Open last month. The Spaniard beat Joao Sousa in straight sets on Thursday to reach the second round of Indian Wells in successive seasons.
THE PREDICTION
Cam Norrie already has a title to his name this season from the Delray Beach Open but it is already time to defend his greatest achievement to date. The Brit should fare pretty well against in-form Pedro Martinez in these conditions, with the Spaniard an excellent competitor on clay but likely to be outmanoeuvred here. Norrie beat Martinez in three sets at last season’s Estoril Open on clay, so the outright pick looks solid here for the defending champion.
