The 30-year-old was beaten handily by Iga Swiatek at Indian Wells last time out but, barring injuries, she has been seriously competitive this season, with her best performances coming in tight exits to Swiatek in Melbourne and Elena Rybakina in Abu Dhabi. World number 81 Bernarda Pera grabbed a second chance as a lucky loser from qualifying but she faces an uphill battle against Collins, who has needed at least top 30 quality to oust her in completed matches this season.
