World number 65 Benjamin Bonzi set a career-high ATP world ranking of 60th last November after finding plenty of success on the Challenger circuit with six titles won. The 25-year-old has made the second round of a Grand Slam on three previous occasions and he will have a fair chance of another here against world number 87 Peter Gojowczyk, whose last tour-level win came in September. The 32-year-old enjoyed a brief flurry of excellent form in that month with a stunning run to the round of 16 at the US Open halted in five sets by Carlos Alcaraz and then a semi-final exit at the Moselle Open to eventual champion Hubert Hurkacz. The winner of this first meeting between the pair looks tough to call with the German’s form gone for now but taking this match to see five sets could be a valuable one-off punt. Gojowczyk often started poorly and galvanised at the US Open with three our of our matches going the distance. Take at least four sets here if possible.
