THE PREDICTION

World number two Aryna Sabalenka came back from a set down to beat defending champion Jelena Ostapenko on Wednesday, conceding just two games in the last two sets. The 24-year-old is in the form of her career after claiming her maiden Grand Slam title last month at the Australian Open and she takes a 13-match winning streak into the quarter-finals after also winning Adelaide 1 to see no losses yet in 2023. Former world number two Barbora Krejcikova looks to be rediscovering some of her best tennis just in time for what could be a very fruitful clay swing but this looks too steep a climb at this moment against Sabalenka. Krejcikova beat Petra Kvitova in straight sets on Wednesday to back-up an excellent three-set victory over Daria Kasatkina but Sabalenka is probably just-about the title favourite in Dubai despite the level of tennis Iga Swiatek is producing. Sabalenka leads their head-to-head 2-0 and she can make that three in a row with victory here, probably in two.
