THE PREDICTION
World number ne Aryna Sabalenka conceded just three games to Sofia Kenin on her first match back on tour since usurping Iga Swiatek at the top of the sport. The 25-year-old first really burst onto the world stage on the last Asian swing four years ago in 2019, where she won Zhuhai, Wuhan and Shenzhen in quick succession to see four of her five WTA titles won in China. Now up to 13 career WTA titles, including a maiden Grand Slam claimed at the Australian Open in January, the Belarussian looks the firm favourite here in Beijing and this should be a relatively comfortable clash with Katie Boulter, over whom she leads 2-0 in their head-to-head. 27-year-old Boulter will move back up to her career-high WTA world ranking of 50th after overcoming Magdalena Frech in three sets on Sunday but this looks too steep of a challenge for any player ranked outside the top 10. Take Sabalenka to win in straight sets.
