World number 144 Qiang Wang is playing her first tournament since an excellent Australian Open campaign last month in which she stunned Coco Gauff in the first round before losing to Madison Keys in a deciding tiebreak in the third round. The 30-year-old has beaten Lauren Davis and Harmony Tan with little fuss this campaign and she looks the likelier winner here in a first meeting with world number 88 Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova despite their current difference in ranking. The Slovak is also yet to drop a set, with a first round defeat of in-form Nuria Parrizas-Diaz particularly impressive, but backing former world number 12 Wang to utilise all her experience to win at least a set as the likelier victor seems the reasonable option here.
