World number seven Andrey Rublev put in an excellent defence of his Dubai Tennis Championships title last week but he fell at the final hurdle to Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. The 25-year-old will be keen to make an impression here as he aims to avenge a defeat to in-form rising star Jiri Lehecka suffered at the Qatar open two weeks ago but the Czech beat Arthur Rinderknech in straight sets on Wednesday to get a useful match in his legs.
