World number seven Andrey Rublev beat Dominik Koepfer in straight sets on Sunday to make it 10 wins in a row. The 24-year-old won back-to-back titles last month at the Open 13 in Marseille and Dubai Tennis Championships with wins over the likes of Felix Auger-Aliassime and Hubert Hurkacz. Rublev now owns 10 ATP titles, with a superb record at ATP 500 level, but eh lost the first Masters final of his career to Alexander Zverev at last season’s Cincinnati Open.

World number 30 Frances Tiafoe beat Brandon Nakashima in straight sets on Sunday for only a second win of 2022. The 24-year-old shocked Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round of Wimbledon last year in one of several blockbuster results and he beat the Greek again on his way to finishing runner-up to Alexander Zverev at the Vienna Open later in the year.
THE PREDICTION
Frances Tiafoe singled out Andrey Rublev at last season’s US Open as a player he knew he could beat in New York and he delivered in the third round over five thrilling sets. The 24-year-old struggles to string enough wins like that together to challenge for titles but he can beat anybody on his day, barring Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, and he will take plenty of confidence into this third round clash. World number seven Andrey Rublev is riding a 10-match winning streak, though, and he is arguably more effective over three sets with less time for his opponents to wait out his storms. This match looks a coupon-buster in a few ways but backing Rublev to win at least a set sensibly leaves the winner up to chance here.
