THE PREDICTION
21-year-old Anastasia Zakharova will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 147th after coming back from a set down to stun Yulia Putintseva on Monday. The Russian qualified well to make her Grand Slam debut here in Melbourne and she brings some serious momentum into this biggest match of her young life in a huge opportunity for both players after Kaja Juvan upset 23rd seed Anastasia Potapova in straight sets. 23-year-old Juvan has plenty of potential but the Slovenian has struggled to realise anything like her maximum so far on tour, with a career-high of 58th set in 2022 well below what she can reach. The current world number 109 won all three of her first round matches last season as a player who enjoys the big occasion and she enjoyed a urn to the third round at the US Open before defeat to friend and world number one Iga Swiatek.
Juvan may struggle to find as much grit against a qualifier as she did against a top seed but back the Slovenian to earn at least a set as the likelier of two capable victors to leave the result up to chance.
TIP: KAJA JUVAN TO WIN A SET
