THE PREDICTION
World number 10 Alexander Zverev came back from a set down to beat Diego Schwartzman on Friday, avoiding an early scare in a short turnaround from winning the Chengdu Open title on Tuesday. The 26-year-old has now won two ATP titles in as many months after success at the Hamburg 500 on clay in July to build on his huge run to the semi-finals of Roland-Garros – where he suffered a season ending injury last summer. World number 25 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina caught the German cold in a blistering straight sets victory at the Canada Masters last month but their first three encounters had gone Zverev’s way pretty comfortably to see him the reasonable favourite here. The Spaniard beat Zhou Yi in straight sets on Thursday to put a woeful experience as part of Spain’s Davis Cup team behind him but this is a significant step up in quality. Zverev takes a five-match winning streak into the clash but he has dropped sets in each of his last two to suggest an outright call is the suitably cautious move.
