THE PREDICTION

World number seven Andrey Rublev beat Quentin Halys in straight sets on Sunday to avoid a potential upset. The 25-year-old suffered a tough exit to Ugo Humbert at the China Open last weekend to continue some erratic form on tour, with five of his last nine matches seeing sets go both ways. 35-year-old Adrian Mannarino is just one place behind his career-high ATP world ranking of 22nd after winning his second ATP title of the season, and a fourth overall, at the Astana Open earlier this week. The Frenchman would have been forgiven for a poor start in Shanghai with the calendar out of shape right now but he played well to concede just four games to Chun-hsin Tseng on Sunday. A six-match winning streak will be a tough momentum for Rublev to have to tackle here but the Russian leads their head-to-head 2-1 with sets won in all three of their previous matches. Back Rublev to earn at least a set inside an accumulator or consider the same option for in-form Mannarino on its own.
