This should be the final of the Kremlin Cup in terms of form with world number five Garbine Muguruza recently winning the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic and number 20 Anett Kontaveit claiming both the recent Cleveland Championships and Ostrava Open. Both players are yet to drop a set this week in Moscow, with Muguruza playing just the one match against Tereza Martincova and Kontaveit comfortably ousting two competitive foes in Katerina Siniakova and Andrea Petkovic.
The pair have not faced each other since 2017 but Garbine Muguruza leads their head-to-head record 2-1 with two victories at Grand Slams – the Australian Open in 2016 and Roland-Garros a year later.
