World number 37 Ekaterina Alexandrova has led a charmed campaign at the Kremlin Cup after Ons Jabeur pulled out of their first round match with an injury and then Maria Sakkari did the same in their semi-final on Saturday. The 26-year-old still deserves her place in the final after taking out the top seed Aryna Sabalenka but she will be the underdog once again here against red-hot Anett Kontaveit. World number 20 Kontaveit has won two of her last five tournaments at the Cleveland Championships and Ostrava Open and she looks the solid favourite to make it three in six after winning each of her four matches in Moscow without dropping a set. Kontaveit was the winner of their only previous encounter at last season’s Ostrava Open in three sets but the Estonian is in the form of her life right now and can be backed to lift the title here.
