THE LOWDOWN

World number 25 Danielle Collins was in control against fellow American Lauren Davis before her opponent was forced to retire from their second round match on Saturday. The 22nd seed famously reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open back in 2019 but after several injuries she is only just getting back to her best form with her first two WTA titles won this summer at the Palermo Open and Silicon Valley Classic. World number 14 Ons Jabeur was under pressure against Anastasija Sevastova on Saturday but the Tunisian recovered well from a second-set tiebreak lost to win the deciding set. The 27-year-old also won her first WTA title this year at the Birmingham Classic and she reached the quarter-final at Wimbledon less than a month later.

THE PREDICTION

Danielle Collins was the winner of their only previous meeting with a three-set victory to reach the quarter-finals of Roland-Garros last season. Both players want this desperately and their aggressive playstyles should complement each other wonderfully for a brilliant battle on Monday evening. It is very hard to side with a winner with both in such strong form but taking Jabeur, on a mission to become the first Arab to qualify for the WTA Finals later this year, to win at least a set looks the likelier way this tight one slides.
