THE PREDICTION

World number 74 looked in good shape in his straight-sets victory over JC Aragone, conceding only three games to the American wildcard in the first round at Delray Beach. He faces a much tougher prospect here in third seed Adrian Mannarino, however, who received a bye to the round of 16 and will be hoping to pick up from where he left off last season. The French lefty gathered some real momentum towards the back-end of 2020, losing to the eventual champion of three of the last four tournaments he entered including as runner-up to John Millman in Astana. Now at world number 34, the 32-year-old will be targeting an early run of wins to continue in that vein and whilst he is trailing in a 2-1 head-to-head record with Cam Norrie, Mannarino won the most recent contest 10 months ago in Acapulco. Norrie is a well capable of taking a set here and both players are no strangers to deciding sets but Mannarino to reach the quarter-finals in three seems the most likely result here.
