World number 118 Facundo Bagnis is playing out of his skin at this Chile Open and has taken out two seasoned clay specialists in Marco Cecchinato and Laslo Djere as well as two seeds in Frances Tiafoe and fourth-seed Djere in the quarter-finals on Friday. An all-Argentinian semi-final should be an exciting match-up here as Federico Delbonis gets an almost immediate chance at revenge following his loss to Bagnis in the round of 16 of the Cordoba Open late last month. Bagnis beat Delbonis in straight-sets that day on his way through to an eventual defeat in the semi-final and the way the31-year-old is playing in Santiago does not suggest a reversal here. Chile Open’s eighth seed Delbonis has navigated a much easier course to the semi-finals here than Bagnis and will likely be the better-rested player when they meet on court but take Facundo Bagnis to reach the final here via any number of sets.
