South Africa currently sit inside the top five of the netball world rankings but despite competing in each of the last seven Commonwealth games, they are yet to win a medal, no doubt a source of frustration for everyone connected to the Proteas. Despite competing well in the group stage, South Africa perennially seem to miss out on knockout qualification, finishing third in their group across the last four games with the top two advancing on each occasion.
When it comes to Malawi, all eyes will be on Mwawi Kumwenda, who is set to compete at a record fifth Commonwealth games and is a two-time top goalscorer at the tournament. Her goals will be vital to the success of this Malawi team, but their depth is a concern and that gives South Africa the edge here.
