Slovenia vs Slovakia Prediction

In the first-leg of this UEFA Nations League League B/C promotion/relegation playoff at the Tehelne Pole in Bratislava the other day, Slovakia were held to a goalless draw by Slovenia but, predictably, the Slovakians did dominate possession in the match.

Slovenia reached the Round of 16 of UEFA EURO 2024 last summer before eventually suffering heartbreak by losing to Portugal on penalties. They did go 210 minutes without conceding against eventual runners’ up England as well as that mammoth Portuguese tie, highlighting their defensive solidity.

They now face a Slovakia side that, under the management of Maurizio Sarri’s former assistant coach at Napoli Francesco Calzona, seek to play a front foot and entertaining style. They also were knocked out in the Round of 16 at UEFA EURO 2024 last summer, having taken an early lead against England before losing in extra-time following a dramatic Jude Bellingham goal.

Slovenia will believe that they can control and dominate the territory against Slovakia, especially with home advantage, and siding with the solidity of the Slovenians may well be the way to go for this one in Ljubljana.

Slovenia vs Slovakia Tip: Double chance – Slovenia to win or draw
