- St. Helens produced an underwhelming performance as they edged an under-strength Leeds Rhinos to advance to the next round of the Challenge Cup but Saints can perform much better than they showed in that clash.
- Leeds were reduced to 12 men just after half-time but Saints still struggled to put them to the sword and it took a late try to secure the victory in what was a disappointing way to back up nilling Hull KR in their previous Super League outing.

- Wakefield Trinity’s poor start to the season continued as they were dumped out of the Challenge Cup by Catalans Dragons last week which made it three defeats from their three matches so far.
- That came on the back of a big loss to Wigan Warriors in their previous Super League outing in which they were well-beaten despite making a promising start to that contest and with a mounting injury list, this looks like another hugely difficult assignment at the home of the champions.

THE PREDICTION
St. Helens will be eager to produce more with the ball this week after Leeds Rhinos’ under-strength side did a good job of stifling them last time out. Saints still won that game but they made hard work of it despite playing against 12 men for almost half of the game. They will look to make it four successive wins to begin the season as they host Wakefield Trinity and with the visitors arriving on the back of three losses, it is the perfect chance for Saints to put in a better display. The reigning champions nilled Hull KR in their last Super League clash and with Wakey arriving with numerous key players out, the hosts should be comfortable winners with the margin set to be at least 24 points in this one.
