- North Queensland Cowboys’ season got off to a woeful start as they fell to defeat against last year’s wooden spoonists in a low-quality affair and alarm bells will already be ringing with a long season ahead.
- The Cowboys managed just a solitary try against Canterbury Bulldogs and while they only conceded one in return, they were on the wrong end of a 4-6 scoreline which leaves them needing to produce a big response to bounce back here.

- Canberra Raiders were able to overcome some early injury strife in their season opener with Cronulla Sharks as they edged their opponents in a tight affair thanks to a late score to seal the victory.

THE PREDICTION
North Queensland Cowboys produced arguably the worst performance of round one and it will have been a huge worry for those within the organisation. They were terrible against last season’s worst team in the competition and with many fancying them for the wooden spoon this year, they did little to quell those fears. They will need to produce a response in this clash with Canberra Raiders but the away side come into this on the back of a win in their opening game last week that will have given them plenty of confidence and they can overcome a big injury list to make it back-to-back successes.
