THE TEAM NEWS

CRONULLA SHARKS

  • Cronulla Sharks made it three wins in succession by seeing off Canterbury Bulldogs in woeful conditions last week but this will be a much tougher task as they take on Melbourne Storm with the Sharks looking to draw level on points with their opponents.
  • The Sharks played some flowing rugby despite the weather last week and will hope for better conditions here as they as they aim to end a five-game losing streak against the Storm but they will have to do so without Siosifa Talakai because of his Origin involvement so Connor Tracey will play in the centres.

Starting 13: Kennedy, Katoa, Ramien, Tracey, Mulitalo, Moylan, Hynes, Rudolf, Brailey, Hunt, Nikora, Graham, Finucane – Interchanges: Tolman, McInnes, Wilton, Fifita – Reserves: Trindall, Colquhoun, Dykes, Hamlin-Uele, Miller

Unavailable: Jack Williams, Siosifia Talakai

MELBOURNE STORM

  • Melbourne Storm produced arguably their worst performance of the season as they were well-beaten by Manly Sea Eagles despite the scoreline suggesting otherwise with Craig Bellamy’s men producing a late flurry of tries.
  • Four tries in the final four minutes brought the Storm to within just six points of their opponents but it did little to mask what was a disappointing effort on both sides of the ball and to make matters worse for Melbourne, they will be missing their Origin contingent for this clash.

Starting 13: Papenhuyzen, Ieremia, Seve, Olam, Anderson, Meaney, Hughes, J. Bromwich, B. Smith, Asofa-Solomona, Lewis, K. Bromwich, King – Interchanges: Wishart, Kamikamica, MacDonald, J. Grant – Reserves: Garlick, Tonumaipea, Howarth, Nikorima, Smoothy

Unavailable: Christian Welch, George Jennings, Tepai Moeroa, Reimis Smith, Xavier Coates, Trent Loiero, Felise Kaufusi, Cameron Munster, Harry Grant

THE PREDICTION

Cronulla Sharks can draw level on points with Melbourne Storm in second place on the NRL ladder if they can topple their opponents in this matchup. The Sharks have won their last three games and will hold no fear in this clash as they face a Storm outfit coming into this on the back of a poor showing against Manly Sea Eagles last week. They will also be missing a handful of key men owing to injury and State of Origin call-ups so the Sharks make appeal with the benefit of a +2.5 start in this contest.
