- Wests Tigers were game in their clash with Parramatta Eels last week and while they fell short in their efforts to make it back-to-back wins, head coach Michael Maguire will have been encouraged by his some of the things his side did against a solid opponent.
- Wests completed at 83% and enjoyed more of the ball than the Eels but they lacked a clinical edge in possession and Maguire will be hoping his side can utilise their attacking positions better than they managed last time out.

- North Queensland Cowboys were yet again on the end of a hammering as their woeful defensive efforts were punished by Cronulla Sharks in what was an extremely one-sided affair with the game getting away from them in the first half.
- The Cowboys found themselves trailing 36-6 at the break as things went from bad to worse for new head coach Todd Payten and he has been handed a further blow this week with the news that Michael Morgan has been forced into early retirement.
THE PREDICTION
It is difficult to see where North Queensland Cowboys’ first win comes from this season after producing some terrible efforts in their four matches so far. They have struggled on both sides of the ball and that could open the door for Wests Tigers to capitalise here. Wests have shown signs of improvement in their last two outings and while they have just one win to their name so far this campaign, this is the perfect opportunity for them to record another win in what can be a fitting tribute to the late Tommy Raudonikis who will be honoured before this game following his passing earlier in the week.
