- Gold Coast Titans have watched both top eight rivals suffer defeats to begin the weekend to leave their finals fate firmly in their own hands despite losing for the third time in successive matches last week.
- Their hearts were broken by a last-gasp Newcastle Knights field goal as they were edged 15-14 in a nervy encounter but with Cronulla Sharks failing to secure their position in eighth spot on Friday, the Titans know a win by 11 points or more would book their spot in the finals.

- New Zealand Warriors have been made to pay for their inconsistency having missed out on a spot in the top eight thanks to back-to-back losses, the latest coming against Canberra Raiders in a must-win game last week.
- To make matters worse for the Warriors, they blew a 16-0 lead with them going on to concede 28 unanswered points in what turned into a disappointing loss but they will look to end their year on a high by ending with a win here.
THE PREDICTION
Gold Coast Titans have watched their top eight rivals fail to earn
the wins they needed earlier in Round 25 so they have been handed an
opportunity to secure a spot in the finals, although they will have to
end a three-match losing streak to do so. A win by at least 11 points
over New Zealand Warriors will see them finish in eighth spot and they
will be full of confidence despite their recent defeats. The Warriors
however have nothing but pride to play for and will look to make things
tricky for the Titans and in what could turn into an open game with the
hosts knowing their fate could go down to their final play of the
regular season, points are expected to flow here with at least 50 set to
be scored.
