- Cronulla Sharks ended their long wait for a win as they edged bitter rivals St. George Illawarra in a close tussle last week with Golden Point needed to separate the two teams in match played in poor conditions.
- That success ended a six-match losing streak for the Sharks but they still have further improvements to make if they are to get their season back on track, although they are boosted by the return of Shaun Johnson in the halves.

- Gold Coast Titans did enough to make it two wins from their last three thanks to overcoming Canterbury Bulldogs last week but head coach Justin Holbrook will have been disappointed with his side’s defensive efforts once again.
- The Titans allowed 20 points in that contest which was the first time the Bulldogs had hit the 20-point mark all season and that will be an area of focus once again, although they are now averaging a touch over 27 points per game with ball in hand over their last five matches.
THE PREDICTION
Cronulla Sharks got back to winning ways with a pressure-relieving
victory over local rivals St. George Illawarra Dragons last week and
they will hope that leads to a run of improved results. They should be
able to play with more freedom after claiming the two points to end a
run of six successive losses and that could help them as they look to
take advantage of Gold Coast Titans’ lacklustre defence. However, with
the Sharks also struggling defensively, this should be an open contest
with plenty of points likely and the total should surpass 49.
