THE TEAM NEWS

BRISBANE BRONCOS

Unavailable: Ben Te’o (Injured), Patrick Carrigan (Injured), John Asiata (Injured), Karmichael Hunt (Injured), Jake Turpin (Injured), Kotoni Staggs (Injured)

  • Brisbane Broncos were unable to build on their win over North Queensland Cowboys as they fell to defeat against Newcastle Knights with that being their third loss in four matches.
  • The Broncos had to defend for almost the entirety of the opening ten minutes of the contest and that told as the game progressed with Brisbane tiring but despite putting in a solid effort in that game, head coach Kevin Walters has once again made numerous changes to his side.

SYDNEY ROOSTERS

Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, Keighran, Manu, Copley, Hutchison, Walker, Liu, Verrills, Taukeiaho, N. Butcher, Tupouniua, Radley – Interchanges: Lam, E. Butcher, Baker, Whyte – Reserves: B. Marschke, Hau Tapuha, Abbey, Thomas

Unavailable: Luke Keary (Injured), Lindsay Collins (Injured), Joseph Suaalii (Injured), Matt Ikuvalu (Injured), Billy Smith (Injured), Josh Morris (Injured), Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (Rested), Angus Crichton (Suspended)

  • Sydney Roosters’ top four hopes suffered a blow as they were beaten for the first time in five matches with Penrith Panthers getting the better of them in a tight affair last week and they will be desperate to respond in this clash.
  • The Roosters were on the end of a shock defeat against Brisbane Broncos earlier in the season and revenge could be in their thoughts here, although they will be attempting to bounce back with forwards Jared Waerea-Hargreaves who has been rested as well as the banned Angus Crichton.

THE PREDICTION

Sydney Roosters are still right in the mix for a spot in the top four but they fell short in their bid to overhaul Parramatta Eels last week as they were narrowly beaten by Penrith Panthers. They are still level on points with the Eels and will hope to make an immediate response here as they aim to pile the pressure on their top four rivals by overtaking them before their game later in the weekend. They take on a Brisbane Broncos side with three defeats in their last four in their quest to make it five wins from six and with the hosts still unable to settle on their best side, the Roosters should be too good here with the Tricolours able to win by 13+ points.
