Naomi Osaka vs Elena Rybakina prediction

Naomi Osaka progressed to the next stage of the US Open after a three set win over Elise Mertens. Osaka took the opening set and broke early in the second before her level dipped, with Mertens going on to level the match. The four-time Grand Slam champion was 4-2 down in the decider but won five of the remaining six games to seal a 6-3 3-6 7-5 victory. She had also required three sets to defeat Katerina Siniakova in the previous round.

She now faces Elena Rybakina. The reigning Australian Open champion continued her progress with a straight sets win over Yuliia Starodubtseva. The Ukrainian served for the first set and also had a set point in the tiebreak, but Rybakina reeled off the final three points to take the lead. The second was more straight-forward for the Kazakh, and she is now just two wins away from becoming world number one for the first time in her career.

These two met for the first time just last month in Toronto, with Rybakina recovering from a set and a break down to win in three. Both players are likely to dominate on serve, and this could also go the distance.
