JAMIE MULLARKEY VS JOHN MAKDESSI LOWDOWN
Jamie Mullarkey (16-6) has been stopped in his tracks again after building some momentum with a couple impressive wins. He has not been handed an easy match up since he joined the UFC. After a couple brilliant knockouts in 2021, he got TKO’d himself by Jalin Turner (2022). He responded with decisions over Michael Johnson (2022) and Francisco Prado (2023) but then introduced Muhammad Naimov to the octagon who introduced his right hand to the Aussie’s dome to inflict his fourth knockout loss.
Now, he welcomes the veteran John Makdessi (18-8) back to the cage after a year out. He has been very inactive only fighting once a year since 2016. His last win was a split decision over Ignacio Bahamondes (2021) as the underdog which came in response to losing a unanimous decision to Francisco Trinaldo (2020). His last fight was in Paris taking on Nasrat Haqparast who handed the Canadian his eighth loss inside the octagon to drop his UFC record to 11-8.
JAMIE MULLARKEY VS JOHN MAKDESSI PREDICTION
Makdessi will be salivating at the four knockouts in Mullarkey’s loss column. Although he is past his prime, he is still a dangerous kickboxer and he will be backing himself to find the damaged chin of the Aussie.
Mullarkey will be boasting a six-inch reach and four-inch height advantage and his striking continues to improve. However, he needs to stick to his strengths and nullify the Canadian’s weapons by taking him down.
Considering the odds and Mullarkey’s chin, Makdessi may be worth a punt. However, he has not knocked anybody out since 2015 and we are backing the Aussie to maintain the distance, hold his own with his boxing but ultimately get the job done with his wrestling.
Prediction: Mullarkey via Decision
