Mike De Decker vs Luke Woodhouse Prediction

It has been some year for Belgian star Mike De Decker as he comes into this year’s World Championships as one of the favourites to do well. His win in the World Grand Prix where he beat Luke Humphries in the final has really catapulted the Belgian into the mainstream and nobody will be underestimating him in this year’s tournament.

His record at Ally Pally is pretty poor having never gone past the second round in any of his four previous appearances. He will want to put that right this time around and it would be no surprise if he goes deep into the business end this year.

He has a tough opening match to get under way on day three as he meets the talented Luke Woodhouse. The Englishman eased to a 3-0 victory against Laurence Ilagan on Monday registering a solid average of 94.38. He will likely need to improve on that against De Decker but he is capable of doing so.

This match could well be closer than many expect as Woodhouse is capable of testing anybody. It will be interesting to see how De Decker goes in this opener especially given his poor record at the tournament. There could well be some early nerves especially with the hype and expectation around him this year.

We would not be shocked if Woodhouse pulled off the shock win here but we have to go with De Decker. He has been playing at a really high level this year and barring nerves creeping in, he should have too much for Woodhouse.
