THE PREDICTION
The showpiece event of the Festival will see the world’s best chasers do battle for the Gold Cup. Al Boum Photo was a back-to-back winner in 2019 and 2020 and should be in the mix again after losing his crown to Minella Indo last year. He boasts a good record on this course but has failed to fire this season so will need to find more to retain his title. A Plus Tard was edged into second in this race last year and looks good enough to go one better this time around. Galvin got the better of Henry de Bromhead’s horse in their latest meeting at Leopardstown and is a very consistent type having finished in the top two in his last ten races but A Plus Tard could turn the tables on him in this one.
