Gabon are chasing reigning African champions Ivory Coast at the top of Group F as they, captained by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, sit a point behind Les Elephants ahead of now taking on a poor Seychelles side that are one of the weakest sides in the groups of qualification.

The Gabonese have managed three victories in their four matches in the group stages ahead of this one. They were also strong in CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifying in the autumn, only losing to a very strong Morocco side, who are favourites for the tournament this year. The Gabonese have an array of attacking talent for opposition defences to contend with.

Seychelles are a very average side and were always expected to struggle in CAF’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign, failing to pick up a point in their four matches so far. They have scored just twice and, quite remarkably, have conceded 22 goals in their four qualifying games so far.

Gabon, especially with home advantage playing at the new Stade de Franceville, will be expected to pile the misery on Seychelles with a comfortable victory in this one.
