Competing for a spot in the starting eleven with Rodrigo Aguirre and Fede Vinas, Darwin Nunez should still be the starting striker for Uruguay this summer. Luis Suarez offered to come out of international retirement but Marcelo Bielsa has kept his options up front limited in terms of numbers and a lot of pressure will be on former Liverpool striker Nunez. The 26-year-old, who turns 27 midway through the group stage, struggled at Al Hilal and didn’t feature in the second half of this season, with other foreign players being preferred by Simone Inzaghi in the squad.
