After finishing as runners’ up to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey, Osasuna have turned their attention back to La Liga and hoping to break back into the top seven to earn UEFA Europa Conference League qualification.
The home team, though, come into this on the back of a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Atletico Madrid in their most recent outing, at the weekend. That means they have now suffered three defeats in their last four matches.
Despite that poor run of form, the hosts are still in contention for the top seven, beginning this midweek sitting three points behind their upcoming opponents, Athletic, who occupy that seventh spot.

Under the management of Ernesto Valverde, Athletic Club have been in and out of the top seven throughout the campaign and the Basque club are very much aiming for a return to Europe.
Athletic managed a 2-1 win at home to Celta last weekend to mean they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualification spot. That much-needed victory against the struggling Galicians ended a four-match winless run of form.
That 2-1 win saw Athletic take an early lead via Inaki Williams before Celta struck back shortly after half-time. However, Alex Berenguer scored in the 54th minute to secure an important three points for Valverde’s men.
THE PREDICTION
Many would believe this is a Basque derby and many would suggest it isn't so there is always a bit of animosity between these two. Osasuna, under the management of Jagoba Arrasate, the Pamplona club have been a determined and dogged outfit that have punched above their weight. They face an Athletic Club side that play in a similar style of football. These are two sides with strong defensive records, having conceded 39 goals apiece. A low-scoring encounter, therefore, is expected for this one, regardless of the match result.
