THE LOWDOWN

GETAFE

In his second stint in charge of Getafe, Jose Bordalas once again has his capital city club punching above their weight as they challenge for a top-half finish in La Liga with three games to go. They come into this one on the back of back-to-back defeats, though, ending their already slim hopes of finishing in the top seven and the European spots.

The home team most recently suffered a slender 1-0 defeat to Cadiz at the weekend at Estadio Nueva Mirandilla with a 35th minute winning penalty from Ruben Alcaraz. That loss followed up a 2-0 defeat at home to Athletic Club and means they have managed just one win in their last six matches in La Liga.

ATLETICO MADRID

Diego Simeone has been tasked with evolving his style of football at Atletico Madrid and Los Rojiblancos have been improved in terms of the entertainment quality this season but they have remained fairly ineffective. They are, though, now all but assured of a top four finish and UEFA Champions League qualification with three games left in La Liga this season.

The capital city club come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat of Celta Vigo at the Metropolitano in their most recent outing, last weekend, with Argentinian international midfielder Rodrigo De Paul notching a late 84th minute winner. That means they have now managed five of their last six matches in the league.

THE PREDICTION

We have a Madrid derby between two sides that are naturally low-scoring and naturally defensive. Getafe and Atletico, though, have both tried to evolve their style of football this season with both being a little more entertaining to watch. For example, Getafe’s 35 matches have consisted 89 goals, whilst Atletico’s 35 games have totalled 103 goals. Given that, there could well be good value in backing a both teams to score bet.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
