THE LOWDOWN

CADIZ

It has been an absolutely miserable campaign for Cadiz so far this season as they sit firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places. The Andalusians have managed just two victories in their 27 matches so far this season and those two wins came in their opening four matches of the campaign.

Under the management of former Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino, who replaced Sergio in January, Cadiz come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano in the capital city at Vallecas in treacherous weather conditions. Javi Hernandez pinched a point for Cadiz in the 91st minute as they stole a point in second-half stoppage-time in successive matches.

ATLETICO MADRID

Coached by Diego Simeone, Atletico Madrid are in danger of their season unravelling. They were recently beaten 4-0 over two legs in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey by Athletic Club and are also 1-0 down to Internazionale in the first-leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie ahead of the reverse fixture this week.

As well as all of that, Los Rojiblancos are not entirely assured of finishing in the top four and earning UEFA Champions League qualification. They begin this weekend sitting five points clear of Athletic in fifth place after holding off Real Betis by two goals to one at the Metropolitano in their most recent outing, last weekend.

THE PREDICTION

18th place flatters Cadiz and there is a strong argument to suggest they are the worst team in the league as we head into the final few months of the campaign, despite sitting above their Andalusian rivals, Granada and Almeria. Atletico Madrid are looking to find some fluency and form ahead of welcoming Italian champions-elect Inter to the Spanish capital on Wednesday and a comfortable Atletico win is the thing to back here, despite the fact that they can be a bit ‘flaky’ for want of a better expression.

TIP: ATLETICO MADRID TO WIN
