THE LOWDOWN
UDINESE
Last season, Udinese went on a six-match winning streak in the early stages of the campaign and that saw them sit in the top four for much of the first-half of the season. After that, though, the Friulians managed just five wins in their remaining 30 matches and that saw them slide disappointingly into the bottom-half of the Serie A table.
There is growing discontent within the fanbase over the extremely long-term ownership of the Pozzo family but the Pozzo’s remain in charge, as does Andrea Sottil in the dugout. Udinese have started the 2023/24 Serie A campaign with a defeat and a draw in their opening two games. They were hammered 3-0 by Juventus and then shared a 1-1 draw with Salernitana.
FROSINONE
Last season, Frosinone gained promotion to Serie A under the management of Italy’s 2006 FIFA World Cup winning left-back Fabio Grosso. Over the summer, though, Grosso was replaced with former Roma manager Eusebio Di Francesco as they seek to play a more aggressive and front foot style back in Italy’s top-flight.
Frosinone’s aggressive and front foot style has been shown to be impressive in both of their opening matches against strong opposition in Napoli and Atalanta. They were defeated by three goals to one at home to reigning champions Napoli but still played well before then pulling off a major surprise by defeating Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta by two goals to one last weekend.

THE PREDICTION
The sale of Portuguese striker Beto leaves Udinese light up top, having to partner Lorenzo Lucca with an out of position Florian Thauvin. There had been something of a renaissance of Udinese’s scouting but it has seemingly returned to a more orthodox Pozzo-style trading between Watford and the Friulian club. They face a Frosinone side that will head to the north east of Italy with nothing to fear and playing with no fear. The visitors will be good value for this one, especially away from home, and backing them with a double chance bet looks solid.
TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – FROSINONE TO WIN OR DRAW
