THE LOWDOWN

INTER MILAN

With just one defeat and three draws in 25 matches this season, Simone Inzaghi’s Internazionale have a nine-point lead at the top of the Serie A table as they appear set to march towards the title. The Nerazzurri come into this one on the back of a 4-0 hammering of Lecce in their most recent outing, last weekend, with a brace from Lautaro Martinez followed by goals from Davide Frattesi and Stefan de Vrij.

That was their tenth successive victory across all competitions, which is a run of form that includes winning the Supercoppa Italiana last month as well as taking a 1-0 lead in their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against Atletico Madrid. It is a matter of time before they get the second star, representing a 20th Italian title, on their badge.

ATALANTA

Atalanta have been magnificent in recent months as they challenge for a top four spot and UEFA Champions League qualification once again. It is a challenge and run of form that is viewed as ahead of schedule as the expectation was this one would be yet another transitional campaign. The Bergamasci begin the weekend sitting a point and a place below Bologna in fourth but with a game in hand.

They come into this one on the back of being at San Siro as recently as Sunday evening when they shared a 1-1 draw with AC Milan thanks to an equalising penalty in the 42nd minute scored by Teun Koopmeiners. Atalanta are now unbeaten in their last ten matches across all competitions with just one loss, against the aforementioned Bologna, in their previous 14.

THE PREDICTION

Internazionale, as mentioned, are heading towards a 20th Scudetto and they are doing so in comprehensively impressive and dominant fashion, sweeping aside all comers and potentially setting themselves up for success in Europe, too. They do welcome an Atalanta side back to the Giuseppe Meazza that have been in magnificent form. Inter are the favourites but we could well have a bit of a thriller in Milan on Wednesday.

TIP: INTER TO WIN & OVER 2.5 GOALS
