THE LOWDOWN

NANTES

Pierre Aristouy and Jocelyn Gourvennac have both been dispensed with by Nantes this season as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the bottom three and the relegation places. However, there is an expectation that they will move away from immediate danger with the return of Antoine Kombouare.

They come into this having pulled off a shock 2-1 defeat of Nice at the Allianz Riviera last weekend with Matthis Abline’s opening goal being cancelled out by a Terem Moffi penalty before Egypt international striker Mostafa Mohamed scored a 77th minute penalty to steal all three points for Les Canaris.

LYON

Heavily criticised owner John Textor laughed off any suggestions that Olympique Lyonnais would ever be in a relegation battle and that seemed foolish when they went into December rock-bottom having already sacked Laurent Blanc and then Fabio Grosso but the French have very much recovered and aiming to kick on.

The visitors come into this one on the back of an impressive 3-0 hammering of Ligue 2 strugglers Valenciennes with a brace from Alexandre Lacazette as well as a goal from Gift Orban. Lyon are now unbeaten in their last 11 matches across all competitions with just two defeats in their last 17 matches.

THE TEAM NEWS

NANTES

Nantes are without Nigeria international striker Moses Simon for this weekend as well as Bastien Meupiyou as they welcome Lyon to Nantes this weekend.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Lafont; Amian, Castelletto, Cumart, Cozza; Augusto, Chirivella; Mollet, Sissoko, Abline; Mohamed

UNAVAILABLE: Simon (Injured), Meupiyou (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

LYON

Pierre Sage has more or less a fully fit and available squad to select from for this weekend with their only injury absentee being that of defender, Adryelson.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Lopes; Mata, O’Brien, Caleta-Car, Tagliafico; Caqueret, Matic, Tolisso; Nuamah, Lacazette, Maitland-Niles

UNAVAILABLE: Adryelson (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

THE PREDICTION

These two are both on their third manager of the campaign with Lyon really improving since the appointment of their third manager, Pierre Sage, whilst Nantes will be hoping for a similar effect as they battle against the drop. Nantes will likely be on the front foot as they seek to make it back-to-back victories, whilst Lyon have been one of the better sides in the league for months so both teams scoring would appear a good bet for this one.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
