THE LOWDOWN
MONACO
Under the management of former Borussia Monchengladbach boss Adi Hutter, Monaco have been very entertaining to watch in Ligue 1 this season with their 25 matches so far consisting of 79 goals with 45 scored and 34 conceded as the principality club begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting tucked inside the top three and the UEFA Champions League qualification spots.
The Monagasque come into this one on the back of a continuation of their improved run of form, too, as they defeated Patrick Vieira’s struggling Strasbourg by a goal to nil in their most recent outing, last weekend. Eliesse Ben Seghir scored a 72nd minute winner in that game. That means they have now suffered just one loss in their last seven matches in Ligue 1.
LORIENT
Much like the aforementioned Strasbourg, there has been some disgruntlement at Lorient this season as a result of an American-led ownership takeover that has made them essentially a feeder club to a Premier League side, which in Lorient’s case is AFC Bournemouth. That has made them badly struggle on the pitch but they have also been much-improved of late.
Coached by Regis Le Bris, Lorient, who finished in the top-half last season, have spent a long time in the bottom three this season but they are now looking to kick on and push away from the danger zone. They have won four of their last six matches but did suffer a 2-0 defeat at home to Olympique Lyonnais, last weekend.

THE PREDICTION
As mentioned, both of these sides are in much-improved form of late and are aiming to kick on in the remainder of this campaign as Monaco chase UEFA Champions League qualification and Lorient look to simply cement their spot in next season’s Ligue 1. Much like Monaco, Lorient have also been entertaining for the neutral with an average of over three goals per game in their matches so far this season and both teams scoring would appear a good bet at Stade Louis II.
TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
