THE LOWDOWN

TOTTENHAM

Coached by Ange Postecoglu, Tottenham Hotspur have been a lot easier on the eye this season as they continue to challenge for a top four spot and UEFA Champions League qualification. Spurs begin the 18th match day of the campaign sitting just a point behind defending champions Man City.

Spurs come into this on the back of an impressive and comfortable 2-0 defeat of Nottingham Forest in their most recent outing last weekend, in a game in which they went down to ten men with 20 minutes to go. That made it back-to-back victories after they annihilated Newcastle by four goals to one the week before.

EVERTON

Everton’s revival under Sean Dyche has been magnificent in recent weeks as The Toffees propel themselves from second-bottom in the Premier League to out of the bottom three already after the ten-point deduction in mid-November. Without that deduction, Everton would be in the hunt for a top seven finish at this stage.

They come into this one on the back of a four-match winning streak in the Premier League, keeping a clean sheet in all four of those victories against Burnley, Chelsea, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest. They were left frustrated in midweek, though, as Fulham defeated them on penalties in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.

THE TEAM NEWS

TOTTENHAM

Both Giovani Lo Celso and Brennan Johnson remain doubtful for this weekend’s visit of Everton but the likelihood is they will be involved.

Both Destiny Udogie and Yves Bissouma will be missing for the hosts due to suspension, whilst Micky van de Ven, James Maddison, Manor Solomon, Ryan Sessegnon, Ivan Perisic, Ashley Phillips, Rodrigo Bentancur and Alfie Whiteman are all still out injured.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Davies, Royal; Sarr, Hojbjerg; Johnson, Kulusevski, Son; Richarlison

UNAVAILABLE: Whiteman (Injured), Van de Ven (Injured), Phillips (Injured), Udogie (Suspended), Sessegnon (Injured), Perisic (Injured), Bissouma (Suspended), Bentancur (Injured), Maddison (Injured), Solomon (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Lo Celso (Injured), Johnson (Injured)

EVERTON

Sean Dyche has said that Ukrainian defender Vitaly Mykolenko is available for the trip down to the capital this weekend. He did, though, describe Ireland full-back Seamus Coleman as ‘touch and go’, whilst Andre Gomes featured for the U21s in midweek.

The Toffees, though, will be without Ashley Young and Abdoulaye Doucoure due to injury. Dele Alli is also unavailable for this weekend with his hip injury.

PREDICTED XI (5-4-1): Pickford; Patterson, Godfrey, Keane, Tarkowski, Mykolenko; Harrison, Onana, Garner, McNeil; Calvert-Lewin

UNAVAILABLE: Dele (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Coleman (Injured), Young (Injured), Doucoure (Injured), Gomes (Fitness)

THE PREDICTION

This one is quite tough to call with both teams coming into this on the back of some good performances and results. Tottenham and Postecoglu have figured out an impressive and flexible way of winning matches in recent weeks with their plethora of injury absentees, whilst Everton have been extremely impressive as they march up the table. The Toffees are unlikely, though, to keep five successive clean sheets and, without the likes of Ashley Young and Abdoulaye Doucoure, Spurs should be favoured on Saturday.

TIP: TOTTENHAM TO WIN
