- Southampton showed their fighting qualities for the second Premier League game in succession as they came from behind to beat Leicester last weekend, before in-form Che Adams continued his good form as he spearheaded his side to a midweek victory over Cambridge United in the League Cup
- Adams didn’t actually start against Leicester but after scoring four goals in two games, Ralph Hasenhuttl will surely select the Scottish international in his starting XI, while left-back Romain Perraud is back in training and will be considered for a start here.
MAN UTD
- It was all smiles at Old Trafford last week as Man Utd delivered one of their best performances in recent history as they saw off rivals Liverpool but Erik ten Hag will be demanding that his players ensure that display wasn’t a one-off.
- The brave calls made last week on leaving out captain Harry Maguire and striker Cristiano Ronaldo paid off and it seems unlikely that they will come straight back into the team, while new signing Casemiro could make his debut but Anthony Martial misses out with a fresh injury.

All eyes will be on Man Utd here to see if they can follow up their excellent victory over Liverpool and prove that they can make a sustained improvement. There wasn’t much to dislike about their performance on Monday but this will be an altogether different test at St. Mary’s, with the visitors likely to see much more of the ball. It will be interesting to see what Ten Hag does with his team here, but Casemiro stands a great chance of making his debut in what can only be a positive for the Red Devils. Southampton have been no pushovers this season and will relish the prospect of halting Utd’s progress, but the visitors are tipped to make it two wins in a row.
