THE LOWDOWN
BURNLEY
Along with Sheffield United and other clubs across the continent such as Almeria in Spain or Salernitana in Italy, Burnley are simply awaiting their fate to be mathematically confirmed with their relegation to the Championship an absolute inevitability as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting ten points adrift of safety.
The Clarets very nearly and probably should have earned their fourth victory of the campaign last weekend as they shared a 2-2 draw with West Ham United, despite leading by two goals to nil. Burnley went 2-0 up by half-time but then Lucas Paqueta and a second-half stoppage-time equaliser from their former striker Danny Ings denied Vincent Kompany a much-needed win.
BRENTFORD
Brentford come into this one on the back of yet another improved performance that ended in defeat at the Emirates Stadium last weekend. The Bees fell to a 2-1 loss with Declan Rice opening the scoring but Yoane Wissa forced an Aaron Ramsdale error to ensure it was all-square at half-time but then Kai Havertz scored late on to win the game for the Gunners.
Brentford have now won just three of their last 19 matches across all competitions as they slip closer and closer to the bottom three and the relegation places with Thomas Frank criticising some supporters a couple of weeks ago when there was booing after going a goal down to west London rivals Chelsea in a game that eventually finished two apiece.
THE TEAM NEWS
BURNLEY
Vincent Kompany has confirmed that there are no fresh injury concerns for the Clarets with their only absentees for this weekend being long-term issues, such as Nathan Redmond and Italian youngster, Luca Koleosho.
Jordan Beyer has been 'progressing well' once again but he is expected to remain unavailable alongside fellow defender Ameen Al-Dakhil. Both Lyle Foster and Aaron Ramsey are also still out injured for this one.
PREDICTED XI (4-4-2): Trafford; Assignon, O'Shea, Esteve, Taylor; Vitinho, Cullen, Berge, Larsen; Fofana, Odobert
UNAVAILABLE: Beyer (Injured), Al-Dakhil (Injured), Ramsey (Injured), Redmond (Injured), Koleosho (Injured), Foster (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE:
BRENTFORD
Thomas Frank has been dealing with several injury issues throughout the campaign but he believes that on-loan full-back Sergio Reguilon 'should be fit and available' after missing their defeat to Arsenal last weekend.
Bryan Mbeumo has been described as 'very close' to his return and he could be in the squad this weekend but the likes of Ben Mee, Aaron Hickey, Rico Henry and Christian Norgaard are all out injured.
PREDICTED XI (3-5-2): Flekken; Collins, Jorgensen, Ajer; Roerslev, Janelt, Onyeka, Jensen, Reguilon; Toney, Wissa
UNAVAILABLE: Mee (Injured), Pinnock (Injured), Hickey (Injured), Henry (Injured), Norgaard (Injured), Dasilva (Injured), Schade (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Reguilon (Injured), Mbeumo (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
It is a cliché but there are ‘no easy games’ in the Premier League, especially away from home, and yet this one would appear to be quite easy for the visitors. Burnley are on the verge of relegation and they are allowing their season to simply fizzle out. Brentford, on the other hand, are desperate to finally get a win that moves them away from the bottom three and this is a perfect opportunity to do so against a poor team. Brentford should get a much-needed victory at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.
TIP: BRENTFORD TO WIN
