THE LOWDOWN

ASTON VILLA

  • Under the management of Unai Emery, Aston Villa have been much-improved, moving out of any sort of relegation battle down at the bottom of the Premier League. The Villains come into this on the back of a 1-0 win at Southampton a couple of weeks ago, making it 16 points collected in Emery’s seven matches in charge.
  • Lucas Digne is available again and will compete with Alex Moreno for the left-back spot, while John McGinn is also fit and could come straight into Emery’s starting XI.

LEICESTER

  • Leicester managed to complete the deadline day signing of Harry Souttar but there will be concerns about their attacking depth. The Foxes seemed likely to bring in Jack Harrison, following Tete’s arrival a few days before, so allowed Marc Albrighton and Ayoze Perez to depart but Harrison’s move fell through and they do now appear short out-wide.
  • There will be a late check on Jamie Vardy’s fitness while new signing Harry Souttar is a doubt to feature in this fixture, with next weekend looking more likely for his inclusion.

THE PREDICTION

Aston Villa have had a further fortnight’s worth of being moulded and shaped by the, as ever, tactically impressive Unai Emery. They are looking to leap up into the top-half of the table in the second-half of the campaign. In that time, Leicester scraped past League Two opposition for the second successive round in the FA Cup with a 1-0 win at Walsall last week. Brendan Rodgers’ side have had a really poor return from the FIFA World Cup. They will be confident of notching at Villa Park, especially with James Maddison returning, but it is a really tough test.

TIP: ASTON VILLA TO WIN & BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
