THE LOWDOWN

GENK

Wouter Vrancken led a Genk side to the top-of-the-table for much of the Jupiler Pro League campaign last season but they really faltered in the second-half of the season, eventually missing out on the title to Royal Antwerp on the final day of the season. The hosts also come into this on the back of further disappointment, losing to Servette on penalties in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. They did start this season with an impressive and required 4-0 demolition of newly-promoted RWD Molenbeek last weekend.

EUPEN

Eupen only narrowly escaped relegation to the second-tier last season but now, with the top-flight reduced from 18 teams to 16 teams, they will fear that the likelihood of relegation has increased. The visitors, under the management of the more tactically ambitious Florian Kohfledt, are expected to be slightly more entertaining to watch for the neutral this season and, as had been predicted prior to the campaign, that was shown in their opening match whereby they shared a 2-2 draw with Westerlo. They had led that game by two goals to nil, though, so will be immensely frustrated.

THE PREDICTED LINE-UPS

GENK

Wouter Vrancken’s preferred system is a 4-2-3-1 and they will persist with that but Brian Heynen has picked up an injury so there is expected to be a change in midfield.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Vandevoordt; Munoz, Cuesta, McKenzie, Arteaga; Mohammed, Hrosovsky; Paintsil, El Khannouss, Ndayishimiye; Arokodare

UNAVAILABLE: Bryan Heynen (Injury)

QUESTIONABLE:

EUPEN

Eupen have a preferred system of 3-4-1-2 but their number ten, Kevin Mohwald, is unlikely to be able to stay in the side due to an injury.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-1-2): Nurudeen; Paeshuyse, Palsson, Davidson; Magnee, Lambert, Baiye, Van Genechten; Deom; Nuhu, Charles-Cook

UNAVAILABLE: Kevin Mohwald (Injury)

THE PREDICTION

This one could be quite a flat encounter as Genk, as mentioned, come into this on the back of being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League during the week. The home team did start the season well and will be expected to challenge for the title this season. They face a Eupen side that are without their key attacking threat so a comfortable Genk victory is expected for this one, especially with their home advantage.

TIP: GENK TO WIN
