FPL 2023-24 | Gameweek 32 | Captain Picks

The midweek round of fixtures that consisted of Gameweek 31 saw some big names blank, whilst others went big with massive hauls for their respective FPL owners to feast on. However, there’s little time to dwell on that with Gameweek 32 imminent, so we’re once again shining the spotlight on another three premium captaincy options for the weekend, complemented by an additional differential choice ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 deadline.

PREMIUM OPTIONS

Phil Foden (£8.2m) vs CRY (a)

The incredible numbers that Phil Foden has put up all season long are only getting better and better, with Gameweek 32 another memorable one in his career. The Man City academy graduate bagged his second hat-trick of the campaign, scoring all bar one of his side’s goals in their 4-1 victory over Aston Villa, accruing 20 fantasy points in the process. Now the highest-scoring FPL midfielder having picked up 183 points overall, including 14 goals and seven assists, Foden should rightly top the list of prospective premium Gameweek 32 captain picks as Man City travel to Crystal Palace.

Cole Palmer (£6.0m) vs SHU (a)

Like Foden, a Man City academy graduate and like Foden, he took home the match-ball in Gameweek 31. But Cole Palmer did it for Chelsea, scoring a dramatic hat-trick which included two penalties and scored both of his team’s last-gasp goals that saw the Blues go from 2-3 down against Man Utd, to winning 4-3 come the final whistle. Palmer’s 20-point haul was his highest of the season so far, taking his total score to 177 FPL points which includes 16 goals, nine assists and nine double-figure point-hauls. With an incredible 48 points over the past three gameweeks, it would take a brave fantasy manager not to captain Palmer away at a Sheffield Utd side bottom of the table, who have shipped 80 league goals after 30 fixtures.

Erling Haaland (£14.3m) vs CRY (a)

Despite a blank in midweek, Haaland not featuring at all against Aston Villa, the Man City forward will be chomping at the bit to take to the pitch at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace and prove some doubters wrong after poor performance recently against Premier League title rivals Arsenal. Having scored 18 goals already in the English top flight across 2023/24, including seven assists and 156 FPL points, a score bettered by only one other forward, writing off Haaland could well end up being a grave error. In contrast, captaining the Norwegian superstar vs Palace could reap huge rewards.

DIFFERENTIAL OPTION

Brennan Johnson (£5.8m) vs NFO (H)

After having recovered from a knock suffered against West Ham this past Tuesday night, Brennan Johnson should be ready to start once again come Gameweek 32, this time at home to Nottingham Forest. In four of the last five gameweeks, the Welsh international has provided at least one attacking return playing for Spurs, accumulating two goals and four assists overall, not to mention 34 fantasy points. Playing for an ultra-attacking side under the command of Ange Postecoglou and against weak opposition on paper in Nottingham Forest, Gameweek 32 may well turn out to be another lucrative one for the small percentage of Johnson owners, particularly those who hand him the armband.
