England vs Northern Ireland prediction

Whilst it’s not been the smooth preparation England would’ve hoped for leading up to a Commonwealth Games, they remain a team capable of making a deep run in the tournament. The netball world was rocked by the departure of head coach Jess Thirlby back in March after six and a half years in charge. Thirlby led the Vitality Roses to silver at the World Cup in 2023 but won’t be leading the team in Glasgow, with Anna Stembridge taking control on an interim basis.

England have enjoyed memorable moments in previous games and no one will ever forget their stunning gold medal in 2018, when they shocked Australia in one of the greatest finals you’ll ever see. However, this team cannot reflect on past glories and must look to the here and now, starting against Northern Ireland, who have not placed higher than seventh across three previous Commonwealth games and were tenth-place in 2022, finishing second-bottom of a group that England won.

Despite the loss of Natalie Metcalf through injury, England should have more than enough in the tank to get the better of their fellow Brits in this group A contest.
