Elias Ymer vs Alexander Shevchenko prediction
Elias Ymer made it through to the main draw of the Australian Open for the first time in five years after three qualifying wins. He came from a set down to beat Elmer Moller in the second stage and then defeated Coleman Wong in three sets to advance. The Swede, who was ranked as low as 332 at the start of last year, takes on Alexander Shevchenko in the first-round.
Shevchenko is coming into this slam after an encouraging showing in Adelaide. Despite an early qualifying exit in Brisbane, the Kazakhstani won four matches in a row at his next event to reach the quarter-finals. He fell away against Ugo Humbert but that would have been a boost of confidence for Shevchenko, whose best results usually occur on clay.
Shevchenko has far more recent tour-level experience and he needs to be aggressive if he is to beat Ymer and advance through to the next round.
