Daniil Medvedev vs Jesper de Jong prediction
Daniil Medvedev made the ideal start to his 2026 season as he won the Brisbane International earlier this month, defeating Brandon Nakashima in the final. After a difficult campaign last year, which saw him drop out of the top 10 of the world rankings, Medvedev’s form improved towards the end of 2025, and he seems to have continued his upwards trajectory. Medvedev has already made three finals at this major, in 2021, 2022 and 2024, but has never lifted the title.
He faces Jesper de Jong in round one. The Dutchman is without a win so far this season after two losses. He was defeated by Gabriel Diallo in the first-round of the Hong Kong Open and then failed to make it out of qualifying for the Adelaide International, losing to Thiago Agustin Tirante.
A coaching change following the US Open has clearly had a positive effect on Medvedev, and the former world number one will be expected to wrap up a straight sets win here.
