Adam Livingston: The American looks to drop an Adam "Bomb" on his latest foe
Poised to make his sophomore appearance on the show, Adam Livingston (7-1) rebounded from a rough submission loss to the highly touted Tommy Gantt on the Contender Series last year with a murderous spinning back elbow KO in his only bout since. 3-0 under the LFA banner, the Adam “Bomb” is a powerful striker with five wins by KO. While he didn’t get to show it against a wrestler of Gantt’s caliber, Livingston also usually has solid takedown defence, leveraging his long frame to sprawl out shots efficiently and allowing him to keep the action standing.
Hunter Smith: Can the Louisiana prospect deliver another "Headshot?"
Currently riding a four fight win streak, Louisiana native, Hunter Smith (8-1), enters his first Contender Series bout with a reputation as a prolific fight finisher. A dangerous KO artist, “Headshot” has only seen the scorecards on two occasions throughout his young career and earned his shot on this season with a thunderous one-punch KO that earned him the AKA lightweight strap. The 27 year old American has extremely fast hands and slick footwork, allowing him to cut angles and deliver fight ending shots before his opponents have a chance to react.
Adam Livingston vs Hunter Smith prediction
While this could go either way, I’m leaning towards Livingston here. Tommy Gantt is an exceptionally talented wrestler and I don’t think that Smith’s plan is to try and grapple his way to victory here.
Serving as a clash between two KO artists, this one is going to be primarily contested on the feet. Livingston has a considerable edge in terms of height and reach, meaning that he’s going to be able to land on Smith without having to wade into the pocket every time, the area in which the Louisiana native is normally most dangerous.
I also put more stock in Livingston’s strength of schedule; he’s gone 3-0 in LFA, whereas Smith has spent the entirety of his career fighting in smaller, less renowned regional promotions. “Bomb” also has a purple belt in jiu jitsu, meaning that a submission isn’t out of the question; Smith’s only pro loss has come by way of tap out.
Smith is dangerous and could well prove the oddsmakers wrong here, but we’re tentatively picking Livingston to get this one done.
Prediction: Adam Livingston to win
